This is why I prefer dogs to cats......I found this pathetic pile of feathers near my chook shed this morning. It could have been a fox, but far more likely it was one of my neighbours three cats that have a history of stalking birds on my property.
Once this sad and sorry pile of gorgeous red and blue feathers was one of these....
A Scarlet Rosella, and as they mate for life, I guess there is one grieving bird around somewhere.

That is so sad, such a beautiful bird.
By the way - now I've found it I am going to be reading your blog!!!
Have a look at my blog and send me your address!
Having lived on the other side of the world all my life, your wildlife...birds, koalas, etc. are amazing to me. What a sad thing for this bird to be gone. Can you use these feathers in your artwork?
i am not a fan of cats AT ALL for this very reason.
which is why my cats are never ever allowed outside the confines of the house and/or their cat run [ cleverly disguised as a shade house ]
I have a visiting pair of crimsons and would be devastated if one of my animals caused their deaths
if you can bear to gather up the feathers, Marcie will use them
